Christmas does not have to be red and green, spruces and snow. Here the textile artists decided to celebrate Christmas with a little robin eating white mulberries. This delightful Merry Christmas tablecloth suggests Swedish-ness in very many ways: the wording is in Swedish, the size is also typically rather small as in Sweden it is totally ok to leave part of the table in view (see the picture with real life setting).
This tablecloth is hand-woven in the typical "två skaft" technique and then embroidered with cross-stitching technique. It is difficult to date this piece but it has never been used, as you can see in the picture from the folding creases. It ended up in a Swedish antique dealer shop after the emptying an old house: the robin and the white mulberry was one piece of a dowry chest.
